What is Hybrid Wood Flooring?

Our Hybrid Wood Flooring from Quick-Step represents the most advanced laminate flooring technology to date, with a strong focus on environmental responsibility. A key feature is its 100% waterproof surface, achieved through Hydroseal technology, which simplifies cleaning and maintenance. These floors are also notable for their refined and detailed appearance, closely resembling real wood and stone, while offering high performance and comfort.

Is your Hybrid Wood Flooring waterproof?

Absolutely. Our Hybrid Wood Flooring has a 100% waterproof surface thanks to Quick-Step’s Hydroseal technology, which effectively seals the joints and protects the surface. These floors can withstand spills or leaks for up to 72 hours before potential damage may occur.

Is Hybrid Wood Flooring sensitive to static electricity?

Our Hybrid Wood Flooring is designed to eliminate problems with static electricity. Each floor undergoes a unique, permanent antistatic treatment, which stops the buildup of static charges, even in dry indoor environments. This feature makes them ideal for commercial settings such as offices and stores. The antistatic treatment ensures that these floors meet the requirements of European guidelines EN 1815 and EN 14041.

Is Hybrid Wood Flooring a good choice for allergy sufferers?

Yes, it’s a good choice for allergy sufferers. Its closed surface structure prevents the accumulation of dust and dirt, and dust mites and other allergy-causing organisms cannot survive on it. Regular cleaning, especially with a dry Quick-Step microfiber mop, helps protect against allergens. Damp mopping with Quick-Step cleaning product is also recommended, as it doesn’t contain substances that attract dust.

Can I use Hybrid Wood Flooring in my kitchen?

Yes, you can absolutely install our Hybrid Wood Flooring in your kitchen. Designed with a scratch- and wear-resistant ‘Scratch Guard’ surface and Hydroseal technology, these floors are well-suited for kitchens. Hydroseal prevents water from penetrating the floor’s grooves. While the moisture-resistant core can handle spills, we recommend cleaning up standing moisture promptly. Regular cleaning with a damp mop is also acceptable.

Can I install Hybrid Wood Flooring on top of an existing floor?

Yes, you can often install it on top of an existing floor. The existing floor, also known as the subfloor, needs to be level and in good shape. We’ll verify this during an on-site visit.

Sustainability

What is the source of the wood in your Hybrid Wood Flooring?

As the European frontrunner in laminate flooring, Quick-Step considers it its duty to produce its floors in the most sustainable way possible. Therefore, the wood in our Hybrid Wood Flooring comes only from recovered wood from sustainably managed forests and controlled sources.

Is the wood in Hybrid Wood Flooring PEFC-certified?

Our Hybrid Wood Flooring carries the PEFC label – along with FSC, one of the most trusted certifications in sustainable sourcing. This guarantees our recovered wood comes from sustainably managed forests or controlled sources, protecting primeval forests and preventing illegal logging through risk analysis. That way, we’re sure our wood sourcing doesn’t contribute to deforestation.

Are your laminate floors safe for use in homes with families, and how do you ensure low levels of harmful emissions like formaldehyde?

We prioritize the safety of your family. Quick-Step’s production process focuses on minimizing the emission of VOCs, including formaldehyde. The formaldehyde emission from our Hybrid Wood Flooring is negligible and far below EU restrictions, ensuring it’s safe for your home. The safety of our floors is validated by the M1 and A+ labels, indicating very low emissions, similar to natural wood.

What happens to the wood by-products?

In the production of Hybrid Wood Flooring, generated wood waste is repurposed to create green energy. Wood dust, being too fine for recycling, is utilized as a heat source for Quick-Step’s tumble dryers and presses. Through this process, they can meet a significant 70% of the heat demands for their laminate and vinyl production using green energy.

What safety, health, and environmental labels have you received for Hybrid Wood Flooring?

Did you know that Quick-Step was the very first manufacturer of laminate flooring products to receive the EU Ecolabel? The European Union only awards the Ecolabel to products and services that meet the highest environmental standards throughout their life cycles.

The Capture collection proudly holds the esteemed Cradle-to-Cradle Certified Material Health Certificate™. As the first laminate producer to achieve this recognition, we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to transparency and customer well-being. This certification ensures that every material used in our flooring is rigorously tested and deemed safe and non-toxic for both users and the environment.

The following labels demonstrate that our Hybrid Wood Flooring complies with some of the strictest environmental and health standards:

  • A+ Émissions dans l’air intérieur (French VOC label)
  • PEFC and FSC
  • EU Ecolabel
  • Nordic Swan Ecolabel
  • M1 Emission Classification of Building Materials
  • Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC)

Maintenance

How should I clean and maintain my Hybrid Wood Flooring?

A floor gets dirty; there’s no way around it. Luckily, our Hybrid Wood floors are easy to maintain.

Start by getting out your vacuum cleaner, two buckets, a mop and Quick-Step Clean.

  1. Vacuum your floor thoroughly. Use a soft broom to avoid scratching your floor. Mop to make sure you get all the dust.
  2. Fill one of the buckets with one cap of Quick-Step Clean per 5 litres of water. The other bucket should be filled with clean water. This’ll let you rinse out your mop or floor cloth. Otherwise, you’d just be moving the dirt around.
  3. You vacuumed and your buckets are ready. It’s time to mop the floor. Dunk your mop in the bucket containing Quick-Step Clean and wring it out well. Get mopping, and the floor will be clean before you know it. Rinse the mop in the second bucket to get the dirt off of it. Repeat until your floor sparkles.

Pro tip: Mop in the direction of your boards to avoid drying streaks.

Do I need a special cleaning procedure to maintain my floor?

No special maintenance is needed! Regular cleaning with a mop and mild cleaning product is usually sufficient. However, if the floor is used intensively and gets greasy, you can use the Quick-Step Clean solution dissolved in water.

How should I deal with spilled water on my Hybrid Wood Flooring?

Dealing with spills is straightforward. To remove puddles, use a cloth, paper towel, or absorbent sponge to soak up the liquid. A quick wipe or two is usually sufficient. If you spill sticky substances like coffee or soft drinks, it’s best to follow up by cleaning the area with a moist floor cloth or mop, being careful not to use excessive amounts of water.

How can I remove stains from my Hybrid Wood Flooring?

Accidents happen all the time. No worries though: your Hybrid Wood floor can take a dropped sandwich, cake or even a paint splash or two. Watch stains disappear into thin air with just a rag, Quick-Step Clean and a mop.

  1. It’s best to clean up the stain right away, so don’t wait too long before removing as much dirt as possible with some paper or your hands. Rub a clean paper towel or rag over the stain to remove as much of it as you can.
  2. Get out the mop and some Quick-Step Clean. Use the mop and Quick-Step Clean to go over the stain until it is gone.

Dealing with more difficult and persistent stains, such as marker, paint or even scuff marks? Water might not do the trick, but acetone definitely will. Put some acetone on a rag and rub the rag over the stain. Take care not to get the acetone into the joints of the Hybrid Wood floor boards, though!
