LURF® (Luxurious Resilient Flooring) is our version of LVT, which stands for ‘luxury vinyl tiles.’ LVT is also sometimes called ‘vinyl flooring’ or ‘PVC flooring.’ Unlike sheet vinyl or linoleum, which come in rolls and are glued down, LVT comes in planks or tiles and can be installed floating (glue-less) or glued down. LURF® is no longer synonymous with old-fashioned, plastic-looking floors you remember from your grandmother’s house. The latest innovations in flooring have turned LURF® into a solid and practical alternative to laminate, hardwood flooring and even tiles.

Product
Can you install LURF® on top of an existing floor?
In most cases, LURF® can be installed over an existing floor. The existing floor, which is also called the subfloor, needs to be level and in good shape. We’ll confirm this during an on-site visit.
Is LURF® waterproof?
Our LURF® premium collection is designed to be fully waterproof. Its waterproof nature comes from two key features: it’s constructed from entirely waterproof materials, and it incorporates Quick-Step’s Hydroseal technology. Additionally, the patented Uniclic or Unizip system ensures that the joints are completely sealed, stopping water and dirt from seeping through and damaging the subfloor.
Where can LURF® be installed?
LURF® can be installed in most areas of a home or commercial space, including living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, staircases, dry areas of bathrooms, and even walls!
Is there anywhere I shouldn't install LURF®?
It is not recommended for use in damp areas such as balconies, pool areas, saunas, and rooms with built-in drains like showers.
Sustainability
What is LURF® made of?
LURF® from Quick-Step is made of about 40% chalk, a natural and abundant material. It also contains recycled PVC (25%) from production waste and new PVC (25%), made from chlorine (common salt) and ethylene (crude oil). The remaining additives are harmless, and the plasticisers used are safe, being the same as those in children’s toys and food packaging (100% ortho-phthalate free).
What is your production process like?
Quick-Step’s production process prioritizes sustainability. 99% percent of its industrial waste is recycled, minimizing waste and creating a circular system. In fact, the facility produces almost no waste that goes to landfills or incineration. Additionally, green energy powers production: three wind turbines supply its vinyl flooring factory with 12,600 MWh annually, comparable to the energy used by thousands of European households.
How does LURF® contribute to good indoor air quality?
Everything around us, from furniture to our house walls, emits substances that affect the indoor air quality of our homes. Therefore, it’s important to choose products with low emissions. That’s why the VOC emission of LURF® is lower than the European standard, resulting in an A+ rating and the M1 label for very low emissions.
What safety, health, and environmental labels have you received for LURF®?
We challenge ourselves by applying strict criteria when it comes to safety and health. For complying with some of the most stringent environmental and health standards, we received the following labels:
- A+ Emissions dans l’air intérieur (French VOC label)
- M1 Emission Classification of Building Materials
- Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC)
Maintenance
How do I clean and maintain LURF®?
Cleaning LURF® is easy. You can use a broom, microfiber cloth, vacuum cleaner, or a damp mop with Quick-Step Clean. No special treatment is needed after installation, but here are some tips:
- Use Quick-Step Clean with a damp mop for regular cleaning.
- Avoid natural soap detergents, as they leave a sticky film.
- Don’t use cleaning agents with abrasive particles, as they can dull the surface.
- Don’t overdose on cleaning agents to prevent residue buildup.
- Clean up spills immediately.
What type of floor cleaning solution is suitable for use on my LURF®?
For the best care, we offer Quick-Step’s Clean solution, formulated for our LURF®. However, you can also use a regular mild floor cleaner and water mixture. Please avoid oil-based cleaners to protect your flooring.
Should I coat or treat LURF®?
No, you should not coat or treat LURF®. It’s designed with an extra matte finish for a natural wood/stone look, and any coating would create an unwanted shiny layer. LURF® is also 100% waterproof to prevent microorganism growth and, in some premium collections, fortified with Scratch Guard and Stain Guard for enhanced durability. Applying an external coating will also void the surface warranty.
Can I use a steam mop on LURF®?
We advise against using a steam mop on LURF®. Steam mops can reach very high temperatures that may damage the material. A mop with a mild cleaning detergent is sufficient for regular cleaning.
How do I remove stains from LURF®?
Stains on LURF® are rarely permanent, usually occurring only when strong chemicals are left on the floor for too long. To prevent stains, mop up spills and dirt as soon as possible. For difficult stains, you can use acetone or a special cleaning agent and wipe thoroughly with a white cotton cloth.
How do I keep LURF® scratch-free?
LURF® is designed with a durable top coating that offers high resistance to wear and scratches. However, like any floor, it can be damaged by sharp objects. To help prevent scratches, we suggest the following:
- Place a doormat at entrances to reduce the amount of abrasive particles like dust and sand.
- Use protective pads on the legs of furniture and opt for castor chairs with soft wheels and a floor mat.
- When vacuuming, use a vacuum cleaner with soft wheels and a soft brush to avoid scratching.
Do you offer post-renovation cleaning?
Yes, we do! Our expert in-house team offers professional cleaning services specifically for our floors. You can find more details here.
