Quick-Step’s Muse Botanic Concrete collection looks like classic terrazzo at first glance, but only upon closer inspection does it reveal wildflowers. Jens van Rompuy, General Manager Wood, Export and Latin America (Latam) at Unilin’s Flooring Division, on the collection and the future of floor design.

According to Van Rompuy, Quick-Step’s approach is to see flooring as much more than a functional surface. “Flooring,” he says, “is an important part of how people express their style and create an atmosphere in their home. The combination of familiar and soothing elements with a surprising application has sparked people’s imaginations and shown that flooring can be both innovative and emotional.”

The concept, he explains, was created as a design statement, but reflects broader trends of biophilic design, personalization and nature-inspired interiors, themes that will continue to influence the brand’s innovation in the coming years.

What do you think will shape the flooring industry in the coming years?

“We are seeing floors become more expressive, personal, and connected to nature. Consumers today are looking for spaces with character, warmth, and authenticity, moving away from safe and uniform interiors. This is driving a demand for rich textures, organic patterns, diverse colour palettes, and designs that blur the line between functionality and creativity.

Sustainability has also become a baseline expectation for consumers, who are looking for beauty alongside durability, easy maintenance, and responsible manufacturing. Quick-Step is positioned right at the intersection of these trends, combining advanced technology with inspiring design to challenge traditional perceptions of what a floor can be. As trends evolve, we will continue pushing boundaries through nature-inspired concepts, innovative surface technologies, and thoughtful design solutions, creating floors that truly become part of a space’s identity.”

Quick-Step, a brand under Unilin, has been active in the flooring sector since 1990. Unilin currently employs approximately 7,600 people across 113 sites worldwide and recorded a turnover of €2.5 billion in 2025.
