What’s not to love about laminate floorings? They are affordable, easy to install, and durable. With that said, you must still clean and maintain your laminate floors properly to ensure they look their best for years to come. Fortunately, it does not take much effort to keep them looking flawless as long as you stick to our do’s and don’ts when cleaning and maintaining your laminate flooring.
Do a monthly extensive cleaning using a vacuum to clean up any dust

Similar to other floor types, the more often you maintain your laminate flooring, the more use you get out of it in the long run. So clean your floors weekly or bi-weekly using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. Alternatively, you can sweep the area lightly with a dusting mop.
We also recommend conducting an extensive clean monthly. Again, start by cleaning up any dirt or debris likely to scratch or scrape the laminate surface with a vacuum. Meanwhile, any stubborn stains accumulated over time should be removed with the appropriate laminate floor cleaner.
Please note that with most commercial laminate floor cleaners, you must mix the solution in water before dampening a sponge mop or soft cloth to clean the floor. Once you are done, wipe away any leftover moisture with a soft, dry cloth.
Do not forget to throw down a protective pad to protect the surface from future damage
Just because your laminate flooring features a “‘protective layer’ does not mean you should not do more to protect the surface from scuff marks. To minimise the risk of scratches or indentations, you can consider adding protective felt pads or furniture glides under the legs of chairs and tables in your home, especially if they get moved around frequently.
Do skip cleaning products that are not labelled for laminate flooring
Avoid oil-based cleaning products, as they can leave residue and streaks and damage the protective sealant of your laminate floor. Always inspect the label of the cleaning product beforehand to ensure that it is safe for use on laminate flooring. If you are unsure, test the product on a small, inconspicuous area of the floor before using it on the entire surface.
Lastly, never wax or polish laminate floors, as these products do not work well on laminate flooring. Instead, it will only cause the surface to become sticky, resulting in dirt particles adhering to the floors.
Do not let stains sit on the floor

Even with our laminate flooring, which has a 100% waterproof surface and Stain Guard feature, it is still essential to wipe up any spills as they occur. If there is a liquid spill, we recommend soaking it with a dry cloth or paper towers.
Conversely, use a damp or moistened cloth to wipe the surface after picking up any solid spills off your laminate floor. Follow either scenario up by cleaning the affected area with a suitable laminate floor cleaner before wiping the spot dry with a clean, dry, and soft cloth.
With these simple tips, you can enjoy the beauty and durability of your laminate flooring for years to come. However, if your laminate floors have been accidentally damaged previously, fret not!
